Objectives & Key Results (OKRs) Template

Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) are a popular goal-setting framework that originated in Silicon Valley and are widely used in various organizations to align teams and individuals towards common goals. OKRs consist of two main components: Objectives and Key Results.

  • Objective:
    • An objective is a clear, concise statement that defines a specific, measurable, and time-bound goal. It outlines what an individual or a team aims to achieve within a certain timeframe. Objectives are meant to be inspirational and provide direction. They answer the question, "What are we trying to accomplish?"

Example:

Objective: Increase customer satisfaction for our online platform.

  • Key Results (KRs):
    • Key Results are specific, quantifiable metrics that measure progress towards achieving the objective. They serve as concrete indicators of success and are used to track and assess performance. Key Results are typically numeric and can be objectively graded as either achieved or not achieved.

Example Key Results for the above objective:

  • KR1: Achieve a Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 70 or higher.
  • KR2: Reduce customer support ticket resolution time by 20%.
  • KR3: Increase the average customer rating on the platform from 4.2 to 4.5.

Now, if you want to incorporate daily tasks into the OKR framework, you can break down the Key Results into smaller, actionable tasks. These tasks can be the daily or weekly actions that contribute to achieving the broader Key Results.

Daily Tasks:

  • These are the specific activities that need to be performed regularly to make progress toward achieving the Key Results.

Example Daily Tasks for KR2 (Reduce customer support ticket resolution time by 20%):

  • Task 1: Implement a new ticketing system to streamline support requests.
  • Task 2: Conduct training sessions for support staff on efficient problem-solving techniques.
  • Task 3: Analyze daily support ticket data to identify trends and areas for improvement.

By integrating daily tasks into the OKR framework, you ensure that there is a direct connection between day-to-day activities and the overarching goals of the organization or team. This helps maintain focus, provides a sense of purpose, and facilitates continuous progress tracking.
